Saudi Visa for GCC Residents Living in Oman
How the Saudi visa for GCC residents works from Oman
If you hold an Omani resident card, you can usually get a Saudi tourist visa online. It often takes minutes, with no visit to an embassy or a visa centre. Saudi Arabia's official KSA Visa platform names groups of people who can get its electronic visa even when their nationality is not on the eligible list. Residents of the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries are one of those groups, and Oman is one of the six. In practice, the Saudi visa for GCC residents is the same tourism eVisa that eligible nationalities use, opened up to expatriates on the strength of their residence.
The platform belongs to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and its footer says the ministry develops and maintains it. That matters, because the platform itself warns applicants to avoid unauthorised individuals or companies. The official page for this route is the KSA Visa tourism visa page, and every fee in this guide comes from it.
Omani citizens are a different case. The official Tasheer visa service states that all foreigners need a visa for Saudi Arabia except GCC nationals, so an Omani passport holder needs no visa at all. This guide is for the expatriates who live and work here. If you would rather hand the paperwork to someone else, our Saudi Embassy services in Muscat cover tourist, Umrah and business visit applications.
Check your resident card before you apply
Start with your resident card. The KSA Visa platform asks for a valid residency in a GCC country of no less than three months. In plain terms, your Omani card should have at least three months left on the day you apply.
If your card runs out sooner, renew it first and apply afterwards. The Royal Oman Police handles renewals, and our guide on how to check and renew your Oman visa and resident card sets out the steps. The same official page lists a few more conditions that apply to every applicant.
Passport: your passport needs at least 6 months of validity left when you apply.
Age: applicants must be at least 18 years old, unless a legal guardian travels with them.
Money for the trip: you should have enough funds to cover your stay, including accommodation, food and transport inside the Kingdom.
Job title: the current official page sets no condition on your profession. Some older travel guides still mention a list of approved jobs for GCC residents, but that list does not appear on the KSA Visa page today.
What the Saudi eVisa costs in 2026
The KSA Visa platform prices the tourism visa in US dollars. As of October 2026, the page lists four separate charges that make up your bill.
Visa fee of $80: this is the main charge, and the page labels it as refundable.
Visa digital services fee of $10.5: the page labels this one as non-refundable.
Insurance digital services fee of $10.5: this charge is also marked as non-refundable on the official page.
Medical insurance: the price depends on the insurer you pick during the application. The platform says this cover is for emergency cases only, and that all the listed insurers are approved in Saudi Arabia.
Before insurance, the fixed part comes to $101. Add the insurance quote on top of that figure, and keep your payment receipt until you are back home in Oman.
Single entry or multiple entry
You choose the visa period during the application, and the official page shows one fee table with two options under it.
Single entry visa: valid for 90 days, with a stay duration of up to 90 days.
Multiple entry visa: valid for 1 year, with a stay duration of 90 days.
The page does not say whether the 90 days on the multiple entry visa apply to each visit or to the whole year. If you plan long or frequent stays, confirm this on the platform before you pay, and keep a simple record of your entry and exit dates.
Processing time on the official page runs from 1 minute to 3 business days. Many decisions come back fast, but it is safer to allow the full three days before any fixed booking, such as a flight or an event ticket.
Applying step by step on the KSA Visa platform
The whole Saudi visa for GCC residents process happens online, and the platform sets out the steps in this order.
Step 1, create an account: the platform says that for a tourism visit visa you log in with an email address and a password.
Step 2, choose your country of residence: pick Oman. The form then asks for your residency details, including the residence number, its expiry date and an upload of your resident card.
Step 3, add your passport and photo: you need a valid passport and a recent headshot photograph ready before you start.
Step 4, choose the visa period and insurance: select single or multiple entry, then pick an insurer from the approved list shown on the screen.
Step 5, pay and submit: the platform warns that errors in your details can slow down processing, so check every name and number against your passport and resident card before you pay.
Step 6, track the result: you can follow the application with your application number, and the decision arrives by email. If the platform refuses you, it says you can reapply at any time.
What you can and cannot do on this visa
The tourism visa covers more than sightseeing. The official page lists attending events and tourist activities, visiting family or friends, and performing Umrah.
Umrah is allowed: Muslim visitors can perform Umrah on the tourism visa. That means a resident in Oman can use this route rather than a separate pilgrim visa. Our step by step guide to the Umrah visa from Oman covers the practical side of the trip.
Hajj is not allowed: the page states that travellers may not perform Hajj on this visa, and during the Hajj season entry is only allowed through specific designated ports. For the pilgrimage itself, read our guide to Hajj visa requirements from Oman.
Work is not allowed: a tourism visa is not a work permit. Meetings, conferences and partnership talks belong on the business visit visa, which the same platform lists at the same $80 visa fee. The KSA Visa business visit page says processing usually takes 1 to 2 working days after you submit the application and the invitation letter, where there is one. Our guide to the Saudi business visit visa from Oman explains the invitation rules.
When the online route does not fit
Some residents cannot use the eVisa, and some need a different visa altogether. The KSA Visa page describes two other channels, and it is worth knowing which one applies to you before you start.
Visa service centres: in some countries, applications go through visa service centres. In Oman, that centre is Tasheer. Its Tasheer Connect centre list shows one location in Muscat, at Panorama Mall on Al Ghubrah Street, open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tasheer's own FAQ says work, residence and education visas need a medical report, and that applicants at its centres give fingerprints and a facial image.
Saudi embassies: where no service centre exists, the page says visitors apply on the platform first and then go to the Saudi embassy in their country of residence.
Visa on arrival: do not count on it. The official page offers visa on arrival only to holders of certain listed visit visas, such as US and UK visas, and to permanent residents of the USA, the EU or the UK. GCC residence is not on that list, so get your eVisa before you travel.
Two quick checks before you pay prevent most avoidable trouble. First, count the months left on your resident card. Second, compare every detail on the form with your passport, since the platform itself warns that errors slow processing. A Saudi visa for Oman residents is simple when the documents line up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a Saudi eVisa if my nationality is not on the eligible list?
Yes, as long as you live in Oman. The KSA Visa platform lets residents of GCC countries use the electronic visa even when their nationality is not on its list. You still need a resident card with at least three months left and a passport valid for six months.
How much is the Saudi visa for GCC residents living in Oman?
The official page lists an $80 visa fee, a $10.5 visa digital services fee and a $10.5 insurance digital services fee. Medical insurance is extra, and its price depends on the insurer you choose during the application.
Can I perform Umrah on the tourist eVisa?
Yes, Umrah is permitted on the tourism visa. Hajj is not, and during the Hajj season entry is limited to specific designated ports.
Do Omani citizens need a visa for Saudi Arabia?
No. Tasheer's official FAQ states that all foreigners need a visa for Saudi Arabia except GCC nationals, and Omanis are GCC nationals.
City Squares is an authorised agent of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, based in Muscat, and helps residents with Saudi tourist, Umrah and business visit visa applications. Saudi visa rules and fees change by official decision, so confirm the current figures on the KSA Visa platform before you pay or book travel.
