The Tasheer Visa Centre in Muscat
Why your Saudi visa file may go to Tasheer, not the embassy
When a Saudi employer, university or relative starts a visa for someone living in Oman, the next step often happens at Tasheer rather than at the embassy. Tasheer is the visa service centre network that handles the paperwork side of Saudi visa applications for the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its official support FAQ describes its role as the administrative and non-judgmental tasks of the visa application process.
That wording is worth reading twice. Tasheer collects your documents, takes your fingerprints, handles fees and sends your passport to the Saudi mission. It does not decide your visa, and its FAQ says it cannot speed up an application. The decision stays with the embassy or consulate.
This guide covers Tasheer Muscat specifically: where it is, how appointments work, what happens at the counter and what it costs. For services that sit with the embassy itself, such as document attestation, see our Saudi Embassy services in Muscat.
Who runs Tasheer today
Older signs and many websites still say VFS Tasheer or VFS TasHeel. In a 2018 press release, VFS Global described its VFS TasHeel venture as the outsourced visa services partner of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That was eight years ago, and the service has changed since then.
Bookings have moved from the old vc.tasheer.com site to Tasheer Connect. In its answer on the relationship between the two sites, the Tasheer Connect FAQ calls the new platform the trusted, unified and replacement platform for booking visa appointments. Its terms and conditions, version 1.0 updated on 7 July 2025, name the Saudi Company for Visa and Travel Solutions as the developer, operator and owner of the platform.
In practice, this means you should book only through connect.tasheer.com. The KSA Visa platform itself warns applicants to avoid unauthorised individuals or companies when they look for help.
Where Tasheer Muscat is and when it opens
Tasheer Connect lists one centre in Oman, in Muscat. Its official centre list gives these details for the Tasheer Muscat office.
Location: Panorama Mall, with the street address given as Al Ghubrah Street, Muscat.
Working days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Email: info.Muscat@tasheer.com.
The phone number shown for Muscat on that list is an Egyptian-code number shared by many other centres, so email or the Contact Us page on Tasheer Connect is the safer route for questions. Across the network, Tasheer says it runs more than 125 centres in more than 73 countries and has served more than 19 million people. Within the Gulf, the list also shows centres in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Manama, Doha and Kuwait.
Which applications need the Muscat centre
Not every trip to Saudi Arabia goes through a visa centre. If you live in Oman with a resident card that has at least three months left, the KSA Visa platform lets you apply for a tourist eVisa online, with no centre visit. Omani citizens need no visa at all, since Tasheer's FAQ says every foreigner needs a visa except GCC nationals.
Tasheer Muscat matters for the visas that still need a physical file. The official KSA Visa tourism page lists visa service centres as a channel in countries where such centres exist. Tasheer's FAQ adds three rules that shape who ends up at the counter.
In person: the visa application must be submitted in person, along with biometric information, as the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires.
Medical report: work, residence and education visas need a medical report, and the FAQ says a medical test is valid for two months.
Visa types: the categories you can book appear in a drop-down list during booking, so the list itself tells you whether your visa is handled in Muscat.
Every applicant must attend the centre, including children and older people. Fingerprints are not needed from children under 6, applicants over 80, or diplomatic passport holders with prior approval.
Booking and changing your appointment
You need a Tasheer Connect account before you can book, manage or track anything. Registration asks you to verify your email or phone, and the one-time code you receive is valid for 5 minutes.
Once registered, you pick a centre, choose the service and select a time slot. After booking, Tasheer sends a checklist of required documents by email and to your dashboard. The FAQ says an appointment is advisable, because walk-in places are limited and walk-in applicants are directed to the Premium Lounge.
The rules for changes are strict, so it pays to choose a date you are fairly sure of.
Number of changes: you can change the appointment date up to five times, and no more.
Timing: changes should be made at least 3 days before the appointment. Inside that window, you can only move to the upgraded Lounge category.
Missed appointment: if you do not attend and did not cancel, you can book again straight away, but only in the Lounge category.
What happens on the day at the centre
Tasheer's FAQ sets out the visit in a fixed order, and it helps to know that order before you arrive.
Reception: staff check your paperwork, issue a token and send you to the waiting area.
Submission counter: you pay, hand in your documents and complete the visa platform form. Staff usually fill in the form, and you must check it before signing. The FAQ adds that the details must match what was entered on the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa platform when the appointment was booked.
Biometrics: if required, you move to the enrolment counter for a facial image and a fingerprint scan. The FAQ says this data is captured only on the ministry's system.
Passport to the mission: Tasheer sends your original passport and supporting documents to the Saudi mission for processing.
Collection: you return on the date the centre gives you. Someone else can collect for you with the original invoice-cum-receipt and a letter you signed, or you can choose courier delivery when you book or apply.
The fee receipt printed after submission is called a Waqala. Keep your receipts safe, because anyone collecting the passport for you must show the original invoice-cum-receipt.
Fees, medical insurance and refunds
We could not find a fixed Oman price list on an open Tasheer page. Instead, Tasheer Connect has a Visa Inquiry tool that shows requirements and fees once you choose the country, nationality, centre, Saudi mission and visa type.
The fee shown there is not the whole bill. The FAQ explains that displayed fees exclude medical insurance, which every applicant must buy from an insurer accredited by the Council of Health Insurance. Insurance prices vary with gender, visa validity, number of entries, age, marital status and exchange rates, and you pay the difference at the appointment.
Refunds follow set rules. If the visa is refused or you withdraw, the visa fee and any medical insurance fee are refunded, but Tasheer service charges and extra services are not. Tasheer emails a link for your bank details and refund form, and if you miss the 7 day window you must visit the centre in person. Refunds may take 60 to 90 days after the visa decision.
Common problems and how Tasheer handles them
Wrong details on the appointment letter: the centre cannot proceed, so you must cancel, reschedule or upgrade the appointment.
Missing documents: you can rebook with the right papers, take an upgraded slot within 7 days, or book a normal slot after 7 days.
Refusal: you can reapply the very next day with a new appointment, once you have fixed the reason for the refusal. Tasheer says it cannot explain a refusal unless the issuing post states the reason.
An old visa in an old passport: the old visa can only be cancelled by the embassy or consulate that issued it, not by Tasheer.
If a Saudi employer or university asks for attested certificates, our guides to official document attestation by the Saudi Embassy and to certificates authenticated by the Saudi Embassy in Oman explain that step before you book. Business travellers with an invitation should also read our guide to the Saudi business visit visa from Oman.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I walk in without an appointment?
Tasheer advises booking, because walk-in places are limited. Walk-in applicants are directed to the Premium Lounge, which is an upgraded appointment category.
